Two senior medical device executives, Don Deyo and Darrin Uecker, have joined the FemPulse Advisory Board. Don and Darrin each bring over 20 years of experience in developing and launching innovative medical devices. Dr. Alexandra Haessler, founder of FemPulse, said: “Don brings deep technical and neuromodulation industry experience. Darrin will bring his broad medical device product development skills and dedication to developing women’s health technology. Together these two advisors will be invaluable in accelerating the clinical trial, product development and regulatory processes. We will make great use of their business development skills as we get close to the launch of our wearable neuromodulation device.”
Don Deyo served as a longtime Medtronic executive, including eight years as Vice President, R&D for Medtronic Neuromodulation. He has lead delivery of more than fifty medical devices to global markets. He is currently President and CEO of Medallion Therapeutics, a spinout from the Alfred Mann Foundation for Biomedical Research developing a novel system for delivery of drugs and biologics to the central nervous system. Don also serves as an independent Board member of TROD Medical, developing a revolutionary focal ablation therapy for prostate cancer and represented the Wellcome Trust as a Board member of Sapiens, a spinout from the Dutch electronics firm Philips involved in deep brain stimulation therapies, which was purchased by Medtronic in 2014 for $200M. “I am excited to support FemPulse in greatly expanding the use of neuromodulation via an innovative, non-implanted platform that may become a patient-friendly alternative to both chronic medication use and implanted neuromodulation therapies,” said Don.
Darrin Uecker has lead product development, R&D, operations, and business development in a variety of medical device markets, with a focus on devices for female health. He is currently President and Chief Operating Officer of Progyny. Darrin has also served as CEO/President of Gynesonics, Executive Vice President of Conceptus, CTO of RITA Medical Systems, and CTO of Computer Motion. “I am interested in developing devices that improve outcomes for patients worldwide. This less invasive approach to neuromodulation delivery should lower the threshold of treatment for millions of women with OAB, potentially opening neuromodulation markets globally,” said Darrin.
